What HubSpot CRM really costs a small UK B2B team
Free for two users, then seats, marketing contacts, onboarding fees and credits. UK prices worked through for one team.
HubSpot CRM is free for up to two users and 1,000 contacts. In the UK, Starter is £7 a seat a month for new customers on annual billing (list price £18). Sales Hub Professional is £77 a seat plus a £1,310 onboarding fee. All prices exclude VAT.
In short
- HubSpot's free CRM covers two users and 1,000 contacts, which is enough for a founder and one salesperson.
- The £7 Starter rate is for new customers, so budget for the £18 list price from year two.
- A five-person team on Sales Hub Professional pays about £5,930 in year one, against £420 on promotional Starter.
- HubSpot Credits now pay for AI actions and buyer intent tracking, at 10 credits per tracked company a month, all from one shared allowance.
- Free-only HubSpot accounts are hosted in the United States, which a UK firm's privacy notice should reflect.
HubSpot CRM is free for up to two users and 1,000 contacts, so a founder and one salesperson can run on it for nothing.1 Costs start when you add people, marketing contacts, the Professional tier or AI features. A five-person UK sales team on Sales Hub Professional pays about £5,930 in its first year, before VAT.2
All the sterling figures below are UK prices checked in October 2026. Where a price comes from a partner rather than from HubSpot itself, we say so.
How much does HubSpot CRM cost in the UK?
HubSpot's own pricing pages showed us dollars, so the sterling figures here come from Whitehat SEO, a UK HubSpot partner that rechecked its prices on 7 October 2026.2 Every figure is ex VAT.
| Plan | UK price, ex VAT | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Free CRM | £0 | Up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, no time limit1 |
| Starter | £7 a seat a month on annual billing for new customers, £9 monthly; list price £18 | No onboarding fee, 500 HubSpot Credits a month12 |
| Sales Hub Professional | £77 a seat a month on annual billing, £85 monthly | £1,310 one-off onboarding fee2 |
| Marketing Hub Professional | £702 a month on annual billing, £780 monthly, 3 core seats included | £2,600 one-off onboarding fee2 |
Starter is the price people misread. HubSpot advertises "save up to 65% on Starter" for new customers only.1 Whitehat advises budgeting for the £18 list price from year two.2 So if £7 is the reason you're choosing HubSpot, work out whether you'd still choose it at £18. That's the price you'll be renewing at.
At Professional level, the onboarding fee is real money. In dollars, HubSpot lists $1,500 for Sales Hub Professional and $3,500 for Enterprise, charged once and not included in the seat price.3 Starter has no onboarding fee.
What costs grow after you sign up?
There are four, and seats come first. Whitehat notes that core seats bill at the highest tier you hold. Extra core seats run from £40 a month on Professional and £70 on Enterprise.2 If one person needs Professional, the rest of the team may end up paying Professional rates too. Ask for a seat-by-seat quote before you upgrade anyone.
Second come marketing contacts, a billing idea that confuses more UK teams than anything else in HubSpot. A marketing contact is simply a record you're allowed to send marketing email to. HubSpot's product catalogue says there's no charge for contacts in the free database and you're not charged for non-marketing contacts. But once you have Marketing Hub, you pay for every record set as a marketing contact.4 On Professional, your monthly email limit is ten times your contact tier.4 On Starter, extra marketing contacts cost from £42 a month for each block of 1,000.2 The cheapest fix is housekeeping. Suppliers, old customers and records that only sales uses don't need to be marketing contacts.
Third is the onboarding fee, covered above. It only hits in year one, but it often decides whether Professional pays for itself in the first twelve months.
The fourth is credits, and they're what changed this autumn. HubSpot Credits are a single monthly allowance that pays for AI features, agents and data features. Starter includes 500 a month, Professional 3,000 and Enterprise 5,000. Unused credits reset each month and don't roll over.3 Extra credits cost £8.10 per 1,000 on annual terms or £9 monthly.2 Since HubSpot's UNBOUND event in September, its rebuilt Breeze Assistant can carry out tasks rather than only answer questions, and some of those actions now use credits.5 None of that is expensive per action. The risk is that several features draw on one pool and nobody's watching it.
A five-person UK team, costed over two years
Take a typical small B2B firm: three salespeople, a marketing manager and a founder who wants to see the pipeline. Using the October 2026 UK prices above, the options look like this.
All five on Starter costs £420 in year one at the £7 promotional rate. At the £18 list price, year two costs £1,080. Cheap enough that nobody needs a business case.
All five on Sales Hub Professional costs £4,620 a year in seats plus the £1,310 onboarding fee, so £5,930 in year one and £4,620 after that.2 Add Marketing Hub Professional for the marketing manager and you're adding £702 a month plus £2,600 onboarding, which is another £11,024 in year one.2 A partner may combine seats differently in a real quote, but the order of magnitude holds. Moving from Starter to the full Professional set takes a five-person firm from hundreds of pounds a year to well over £15,000.
Our view? Most small UK B2B teams should start on Starter and stay there until they can name the Professional feature they'd use every week, and what it saves. "We'll grow into it" is how firms end up paying for automation nobody gets round to building. If you're weighing a twelve-month commitment, our guide to annual versus monthly software contracts covers the notice dates and auto-renewal clauses worth checking first.
Is HubSpot CRM easy to learn for a non-technical team?
The buttons, yes. HubSpot Academy's free HubSpot Free Tools course runs to 1 hour 22 minutes across five lessons and 19 videos.6 Anyone who's used a CRM before could get through it in a lunch break and a half.
The slow part is deciding how your business wants to record things, and no course does that for you. HubSpot's chief executive put it bluntly at UNBOUND: "AI with bad context is worse than no AI at all."5 Partner Cogent Connective reported HubSpot research covering 6,000 companies, in which 90% use AI but only 6% report transformational results.5 Messy data is a big part of that gap. HubSpot has even added a Growth Context score that rates how complete your business, customer and team data is before you switch on AI features.5
For a team without a CRM specialist, we'd spend the first month on these decisions, roughly in this order:
- Agree what counts as a company, a contact and a deal, and who owns each record.
- Write down your pipeline stages in your own sales language before you open the settings.
- Clean the spreadsheet before importing: duplicates, old suppliers and leavers out.
- Decide which records are marketing contacts, because that decides your Marketing Hub bill.
- Have everyone take the free Academy course in the same week, so nobody learns their own workarounds.
Do it that way and a small team can be working in HubSpot within a fortnight. Do it the other way round, importing first and deciding later, and it usually needs a clean-up project a year on.
Where is a UK firm's HubSpot data stored?
None of the pricing guides we read mention this. HubSpot says free-only users are assigned to its United States data centre. New paid subscribers are assigned a hosting location based on the IP address they sign up from, and existing paid customers can move to the European Union data centre in their account settings at no charge.7
So if you're on the free CRM, your contacts' personal data sits in the US. That's allowed under UK GDPR with the right safeguards. But your privacy notice should say that personal data is transferred outside the UK, and your records of processing should list HubSpot as a processor. When you move to a paid plan, check which data centre your account is actually in. Don't assume. If you also track visitors to your website, our explainer on visitor identification, UK GDPR and PECR covers the consent questions.
Does HubSpot show which companies visit your website?
It does now, through Buyer Intent, which matches visits to companies using the IP addresses collected by HubSpot's tracking code. It's available on Starter and above, and tracking a company costs 10 credits, charged again every month it stays tracked.84 Starter's 500 credits therefore cover 50 tracked companies a month, provided nothing else is using the pool. Professional's 3,000 cover 300. Views are capped at the last 90 days, and HubSpot's own help page says you may need a cookie consent banner to comply with data protection law.8 At UNBOUND, HubSpot said its updated Prospecting Agent monitors more than 40 buying signals.5
If your team already lives in HubSpot, it's a sensible place to start. We'd ask it the same questions we'd ask any tool that turns an IP address into a company name. How sure is each match? And what happens to visits from home broadband, mobile networks and VPNs? HubSpot's help page doesn't publicly document a per-match confidence score.8 That matters, because a lot of B2B traffic now comes from home connections, which is why internet providers show up as website visitors.
Scout, our product, approaches the same job differently. Every match gets a 1 to 99 confidence score with a band and a one-line reason, and ISP, residential, mobile, VPN and data-centre traffic is flagged and held in the low band. Scout also connects to your own GA4 and Google Search Console to show pages read, session depth and the search queries associated with each company. You can read how the confidence score works before deciding which matches should reach your sales team.
Getting quiet company visits into HubSpot
HubSpot CRM is good at managing the people who've already raised their hand. Most B2B buyers, though, read your pricing and case study pages long before they fill in a form. Scout identifies the companies behind those visits, scores them from 0 to 100 and pushes them to HubSpot, so your sales team works from the records it already uses. Start a 14-day free trial of Scout, no card needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is HubSpot CRM really free?
Yes. HubSpot's free CRM covers up to two users and 1,000 contacts, with no time limit and no card needed. You start paying when you add more users, buy a paid hub such as Starter or Professional, or need more marketing contacts or HubSpot Credits.
How much does HubSpot cost per month in the UK?
In October 2026, Starter was £7 a seat a month on annual billing for new customers, with a list price of £18. Sales Hub Professional was £77 a seat a month plus a £1,310 onboarding fee. Marketing Hub Professional was £702 a month with three seats. All prices exclude VAT.
How long does it take to learn HubSpot CRM?
HubSpot Academy's free HubSpot Free Tools course takes 1 hour 22 minutes across five lessons, so the software itself is quick to learn. The slow part is agreeing pipeline stages, record ownership and which contacts count as marketing contacts. That takes most small teams a few weeks.
Does HubSpot show which companies visit your website?
Yes. HubSpot's Buyer Intent feature, on Starter and above, matches website visits to companies using IP addresses collected by its tracking code. Tracking a company costs 10 HubSpot Credits a month, and they come out of the same allowance that pays for AI features.
Where does HubSpot store UK customer data?
HubSpot assigns free-only accounts to its United States data centre. New paid subscribers get a hosting location based on the IP address they sign up from, and paid customers can move to the EU data centre in their settings at no charge.
